Statcom is connected at the midpoint of Transmission Lines. The Point of Connecting STATCOM at the Transmission line is called Point of common Coupling (PCC). STATCOM is a Current Compensating device which employs a VSI with a fixed DC link capacitor as a static replacement of the synchronous condenser. In a traditional synchronous condenser, the field current of the synchronous motor controls the amount of VAR absorbed/injected and hence in a similar way, the firing instant of the 3-phase Inverter controls the VAR flow into or out of the STATCOM.
