Use: Contains a smoke mixture which, when ignited and ejected, serves as a signal, a screen, or to spot a target. Weight: 41.96 lbs. Colour: Light green with black markings. CONVENTIONAL:  CONVENTIONAL Smk BE M84 Description Body consists of a hollow steel forging with a boattail base. Uses a black powder expelling charge. Next is a steel baffle (pusher) plate with a central hole followed by three smk canisters. Finally a base plate. Used in conjunction with an MTSQ fuze. CONVENTIONAL:  Smk BE M84 Functioning Functions above ground at a predetermined height. Fuze initiates the black powder in the expelling charge. Flashes through centre hole. Initiates first fire mix in canister. Gas pressure causes the base plate and canisters to be expelled. The canisters burn for 40 to 90 seconds. CONVENTIONAL Slide28:  Smk BE M116 155mm Tabulated Data Type: Smoke (HC, red, yellow, green, violet). Use: Contains a smoke mixture which, when ignited and ejected, serves as a signal, a screen, or to spot a target. Weight: HC 94.80 lbs/Coloured 86.23 lbs. Colour: Light green with black markings (colour indicated by a series of three Cs). CONVENTIONAL Slide29:  Smk BE M116 Description Base-ejection type projectile. Has a hollow steel shell containing four canisters. Each canister has a central tube. Front canister is cone shaped. Uses same set-up of expelling charge and baffle plate as M84 projectile. CONVENTIONAL Slide30:  Smk BE M116 Functioning Functioning of the fuze ignites the expelling charge. Flashes through central tube to ignite smoke canisters. Base plate is blown off. Canisters are expelled. Effective smoke produced in 30 seconds, maximum smoke occurs in one minute. CONVENTIONAL Slide31:  Illuminating M314 105mm Tabulated Data Type: Illuminating. Use: Intended for signalling or for illuminating a designated area. Weight: 46.43 lbs. Colour: White with black markings. CONVENTIONAL Slide32:  Illuminating M314 Description Projectile is a hollow steel forging with a pinned base plug. Uses an MTSQ fuze. Projectile cavity contains an expelling charge, illuminating canister and parachute assembly. Illuminating canister contains first fire comp and is fitted with anti-rotational brakes. The base plug uses three shear pins and three twist pins. CONVENTIONAL Slide33:  Illuminating M314 Functioning Functioning of the fuze ignites the expelling charge. First fire comp in illum canister ignites. Illum canister and parachute assembly eject from the base. Parachute deploys and inflates. Illuminant is ignited by first fire comp. 450,000 candle power - 60 second burn time. CONVENTIONAL Slide34:  Illuminating M485 155mm Tabulated Data Type: Illuminating. Use: To illuminate the battlefield at night or during other conditions of reduced visibility. Also marking targets. Weight: 92 lbs. Color: Olive drab with white markings (some also have one white band). CONVENTIONAL Slide35:  Illuminating M485 Description Projectile is a hollow steel shell containing an illum canister, expelling charge and parachute. Illum canister contains the parachute, illum candle, a secondary expelling charge and a delay element holder. The base of the projectile is closed with a press fitted plug retained with shear and twist pins. Uses MT type fuze. CONVENTIONAL Slide36:  Illuminating M485 Functioning Functioning of the fuze ignites the main expelling charge. Illum canister is forced against base plate and the canister and parachute are expelled. Parachute deploys and canister fins extend. The expelling charge ignites delay element which ignites secondary expelling charge which ignites the candle illuminant. Illuminant candle burns for 120 seconds at 1,000,000 candlepower. CONVENTIONAL QUESTIONS ? :  QUESTIONS ? Q: What is the candle power of 105mm/155mm illum? A: 450,000/1,000,000 candle power. Coffee???:  Coffee???
