Saving Life’s SecondsSafely Preserving Your Memories:  Saving Life’s Seconds Safely Preserving Your Memories Bernadette Walker My Passion:  My Passion Photos Journaling Layouts Creativity SCRAPBOOKING I would be happy if I could dedicate my life to scrapbooking. I feel free from stress every time I sit down at my craft table to create a new page and I am constantly looking forward to each new project I get to create. My truest happiness comes from being able to make meaningful products through scrapbooking. Memories Greeting Cards Organizing Preservation My Propensity:  My Propensity Organizing Brainstorming Willingness to Experiment CREATE When I was about 15, I realized that I had a natural ability to create memory books full of photos and memorabilia. I began doing this in order to keep track of special events and by my second scrapbook, I knew that I had found my talent. No one ever taught me how to scrapbook but somehow I naturally knew how to create page after page. My Purpose:  My Purpose Happiness Pictures Important Moments PRESERVATION I want to help people preserve their pictures and other memorabilia through creative and contemporary layouts. I will help others to capture the important and joyful moments in their lives and provide them with happiness and security by creating safe, long lasting scrapbooks for them. Memorabilia Contemporary Security What is Scrapbooking?:  What is Scrapbooking? Embellishments Layouts Greeting Cards Fibers Journaling Paper Rubber Stamps My Goals:  My Goals Short Term Goals To be completed by Dec. 2007 Create a website about me, including scrapbook products and links Attend at least 3 conventions/scrapbooking events and build my network Learn to safely preserve newspaper clippings Start selling handmade cards at my aunt’s metal shop Get a layout published in Creating Keepsakes Purchase a layout software program My Goals:  My Goals Have a network of at least 1000 people including nationwide connections Have a current, state-of-the-art website including full product line, contact information, links to widgets and much more Be financially successful, be able to get the new business out of debt and be making a comfortable, consistent profit Offer a broad line of products including special occasion books, holiday cards, personalized products, invitations and do-it-yourself layouts Provide each and every customer with an appointment to better understand their wants and needs Participate in volunteer craft projects at local elementary and junior high schools Offer young adult and adult classes and crop nights Work with a professional photographer in order to offer clients special discounts and to create the perfect finished product Long Term Goals To be completed w/in 3 years of opening business People:  People WHO One of the best things about my passion is that it applies to just about anyone and everyone. Scrapbooking can benefit the busy mom to the college sorority president. The craft of scrapbooking is female dominated but my finished products can help males and females, young and old. I will aim my business at people who need me to make one time themed books such as for vacations, those who want personalized greeting cards, those that need small orders of invitations (with that special touch), and for people who are desperate to keep track of special events in their lives and their families’ lives. Because my clientele is so broad, I have summarized what the typical customer will be like. WHEN andamp; WHERE I hope to find clients at planned events such as craft fairs as well as during spontaneous engagements. I can target my biggest customer market when I attend scrapbook conventions, when I am working at local scrapbook stores, and when I volunteer at local schools. I must be aware that possible clients are around me at all times, therefore I must always be prepared to provide them contact information and brochures regarding my business. People:  People Enjoys traveling Attends their children’s sports events, school assemblies, etc… Want to save their (or their kids) awards, ribbons and certificates Participate in local charity events, support local fundraisers Hobbies include watching and playing sports, baking/cooking, home and yard improvement Like to read an extensive range of national and local publications Unorganized people Professional photographers Enjoy sending gifts and greeting cards Look forward to buying small items like new dishes or candles as well as bigger items like a new BBQ grill Worry about having enough time to get everything done Fill every hour of every day with chores, career, education and hobbies Sometimes worry about financially supporting their family, paying for children’s college education People looking for great gift ideas Party planners including wedding planners Pain:  Pain 'TAKE CARE OF ALL YOUR MEMORIES FOR YOU CANNOT RELIVE THEM.' ~Bob Dylan There are several pains that the majority of my customers are suffering from such as living an excessively busy life, lacking the knowledge to make a safe, long lasting scrapbook, and missing the desire to complete such a demanding project. The greatest pain that my clients are experiencing is the lack of time to do projects that they know need to be done. Even though I cannot sell people time, I can make things for them to make up for the time that they don’t have. Prescription:  Prescription For anyone who has the desire to make photo albums embracing life’s great events, I have the time and talent to make one exactly how they want. It’s hard for everyone to find the time and energy to pursue such an extensive project so that is why I want to do it for them. For those that have too many pictures sitting in boxes where no one can see them, kid’s report cards rotting away in a folder and special items that deserve a little extra attention, I can create an album that safely preserves the most delicate of items. I can make books organized chronologically or by theme, however the client wants, that will last a lifetime and look great too. In the end, I will have created albums, books and/or cards that can be shared with others or be kept for personal enjoyment. Since the average person is so consumed with life, I have taken it upon myself to help them enjoy the good stuff and 'take care' of their memories by scrapbooking them. Perspective:  Perspective We all know that the quality of life depends on perspective. For me, I like to view life through my passion. For example, sometimes when I’m driving and I see a breath taking landscape; I instantly consider what kind of layout I can create to resemble it. I love creating pages from the environment around me. Ultimately, I love to preserve every aspect of life. I want to capture emotions, nature and changes. Preservation helps us to remember what makes us happy and what helped us to become who we are. And who doesn’t love laughing about pictures from the past. I like to consider myself an Album Creator or a Photo Preserver. Attraction Tools:  Attraction Tools Products I Will Offer Bounce Backs Credentials Advertisements Products I Will Offer:  Products I Will Offer Greeting Cards Scrapbooks Invitations Organizing Services Mini Scrapbooks Wedding Albums Bounce Backs:  Bounce Backs Coupons with Newspaper Ads Discounts to customers who use a certain photographer Each client gets a discount on their second project Certificates to Attend Classes Credentials:  Credentials Get published in Creating Keepsakes Attend classes to learn new techniques and styles Keep examples of finished products Advertisements:  Advertisements Local Newspapers Two yearly ads in Creating Keepsakes Business Cards Budget:  Budget Annual Total = $6321.35 Notes: 1. 500 cards at $0.10 each. It’s my margin of security, so that I am prepared to spend a little extra cash if needed.
