THE ASTRONOMICAL SOLAR SYSTEM: THE ASTRONOMICAL SOLAR SYSTEM BY JOSEPH KATROWSKI MERCURY: MERCURY It takes mercury 88 days to circle the sun one time. Mercury is very similar to earth’s moon. And has a diameter of 4,878 km. And is more or less than 800 to –280 degrees. And is 46 million miles from the sun. VENUS: VENUS Venus has a diameter of 12,104 km. And the temperature is anywhere from 870 to 900 degrees. It takes Venus 225 days to circle the sun. Venus is also 95% the size of earth. EARTH: EARTH Earth has a diameter of 12,756 km. And is the only planet that has life on it. Earth is made out of rock. Earth is also 93 million miles from the sun. MARS: MARS Mars is very rocky and dry and looks red because it has red soil. Mars’s mass is 11% of earth’s mass.It would take 9 Mars to equal earth. Mars is also made of rock or soil. A hundred pound person would weigh 38 pounds on mars. JUPITER : JUPITER Jupiter has 17 known moons. And is 88,700 miles in diameter. Jupiter is made of gases. And can also fit 1,300 earth’s in it. SATURN: SATURN Saturn has a diameter of 74,898 miles. And can fit 764 earth’s in it. Jupiter is also made of gases. It’s rings are mostly made of rock but have some ice in it. URANUS: URANUS Uranus takes 84 earth years to rotate the sun once. Uranus takes 17 hours to complete one rotation. Uranus is also made of gases. And has at least 21 moons. NEPTUNE: NEPTUNE Neptune is the 4th largest planet. It is just a little smaller than Uranus. Neptune has 8 moons and also has some rings. Neptune is also made of gases.
