Ethics in tourism : The aim of this teaching intervention is to enhance students’ ability to identify and discuss ethical implications of tourism activities 1 Ethics in tourism Background : Background 2 Cultural tourism is a module where sensitive and sometimes controversial issues are being discussed; these include: tourist consumption and commoditisation; tourist-host relations; the influence of politics and power in tourism; sex tourism; exploitative human resource practice. Realising the ethical implications of tourist activities is not an in-born skill Discerning moral practices from immoral or less-moral ones requires effort, reflection, assessment of individual’s value system and emotional engagement.
