Charge Travel Period or Value: Period = as much travelling as one wants Either regional or city internal Value = used to buy a ticket every time transportation is used Travel Card (2):  Travel Card (2) To get the Personal Travel Card: Go to Maistraatti (Register Office) of the city you live in and they will register you as a resident of the city Go to the YTV service point of your city and purchase the card (costs EUR 8) You need a certificate from the Maistraatti that you live in that particular city (can cost few EUR) Load Travel Period or Value on the card and you’re ready to go! Student discount availability varies accoding to the city and student status Journey Planner:  Journey Planner Journey Planner = Internet-based application with which you can plan your route by using public transportation Gives suggestions of the route, exact times when to leave etc. Indicates the place on map www.ytv.fi/journeyplanner http://www.ytv.fi/ Railways and Coaches (1):  Railways and Coaches (1) VR – The Finnish Railways Operates services all major cities in Finland www.vr.fi  Journey Planner, schedules, prices etc. Matkahuolto – The long-distance buses and coaches A way to get to the smaller cities and villages www.matkahuolto.fi  Schedules, prices etc. Easy and cheap way to explore Finland! Helsinki-Kuopio ~50 EUR return ticket Helsinki-Rovaniemi ~70 EUR return ticket Railways and Coaches (2):  Railways and Coaches (2) After paying the Student Union Fee all the students who are studying at least 8 months are entitled to the student discount on long-distance travelling 50 % reduction if the journey is at least 80 km (Matkahuolto, less for trains) Can be obtained by showing a student card If you don’t have a student card you can purchase a special student discount card from VR or Matkahuolto (joint card, costs few euros) Sports:  Sports Spectator Sports Ice Hockey Basketball Football (mainly during summer) Do-it-yourself Ice Skating Skiing (Cross country and downhill) What do TKK and TKY offer?
