All were loaded into wagons, we had quilts for pallets, pillows too, late gifts, and baskets filled with food for the trip and the family table, sharing was the thing to do. : All were loaded into wagons, we had quilts for pallets, pillows too, late gifts, and baskets filled with food for the trip and the family table, sharing was the thing to do. The joy of seeing our dear ones, getting and receiving hugs from the ones we loved, there was much crying and sharing of children’s laughter, secrets, and sadness. : The joy of seeing our dear ones, getting and receiving hugs from the ones we loved, there was much crying and sharing of children’s laughter, secrets, and sadness. The men sat and told tales, bragged a bit, spitting out tobacco juice as they tossed horseshoes, some snoozed, others watched kids play ball, some joined their play. : The men sat and told tales, bragged a bit, spitting out tobacco juice as they tossed horseshoes, some snoozed, others watched kids play ball, some joined their play. They talked with their friends and family of jobs and other things, sharing concerns of taking care of their families, all were glad to be together again, that day. : They talked with their friends and family of jobs and other things, sharing concerns of taking care of their families, all were glad to be together again, that day. It took many hours to prepare the food, when all was done, they sat down at grandma’s big table, grandpa’s gone; the children have a table in the corner of the same room. : It took many hours to prepare the food, when all was done, they sat down at grandma’s big table, grandpa’s gone; the children have a table in the corner of the same room. There was always a bowing of the heads, someone said a little prayer, believe or not, you did it out of respect, the food was excellent, the conversations too, all ended too soon. : There was always a bowing of the heads, someone said a little prayer, believe or not, you did it out of respect, the food was excellent, the conversations too, all ended too soon. Wagons left one by one, hugs ended and someday the tears will too, oh what wonderful hours were spent together, missing loved ones, and wondering who next will not be there. : Wagons left one by one, hugs ended and someday the tears will too, oh what wonderful hours were spent together, missing loved ones, and wondering who next will not be there. Later, modes of travel got better, it gave all more time to visit longer, now grandma is gone, we then went to mommas' house, it was filled with memories, love, hugs, food, and also a prayer. : Later, modes of travel got better, it gave all more time to visit longer, now grandma is gone, we then went to mommas' house, it was filled with memories, love, hugs, food, and also a prayer. Now most houses are without an older grandparent, the day is filled with hugs and all of the things before, but the closeness has gone, ball games are now on TV, no one wants to play. : Now most houses are without an older grandparent, the day is filled with hugs and all of the things before, but the closeness has gone, ball games are now on TV, no one wants to play. We miss the ones that are not there to reminisce, some kept coming out of duty, their children want to be elsewhere, families and togetherness are dwindling more each day. : We miss the ones that are not there to reminisce, some kept coming out of duty, their children want to be elsewhere, families and togetherness are dwindling more each day. I lived in the wagon times, and I miss those people, from them we are family, I have been the momma's house, we have shared love, hugs, happiness, sadness and games. : I lived in the wagon times, and I miss those people, from them we are family, I have been the momma's house, we have shared love, hugs, happiness, sadness and games. Where is the next mommas' house, the place to reminisce and to build new memories, the big table that brings everyone together lovingly, forget not their faces, nor their names. : Where is the next mommas' house, the place to reminisce and to build new memories, the big table that brings everyone together lovingly, forget not their faces, nor their names. Many homes do not have mothers, death and divorces have changed many things, both take away grandmas, hurts can omit memories, no new ones will be conceived. : Many homes do not have mothers, death and divorces have changed many things, both take away grandmas, hurts can omit memories, no new ones will be conceived. I hope my children, and theirs, always have a momma's house, at the daughter’s, son’s,sister’s, brother’s or aunt’s, make calls and set a table with love, let memories proceed. : I hope my children, and theirs, always have a momma's house, at the daughter’s, son’s,sister’s, brother’s or aunt’s, make calls and set a table with love, let memories proceed.
