ANOTHER PASSION OF MINE: ANOTHER PASSION OF MINE My main passion in life is Oriental dance, also known in the West as Belly dance. It is over 20,000 years old and originated in Upper Egypt and gradually spread to North Africa, Arabian Peninsula, and Turkey. Oriental dance then found its way to the West in 1893 at the World’s Fair in Chicago. The Oriental dancer known as Little Egypt mesmerized her audience by her serpentine and earthly movements. Her strong hip shimmies, body undulations and rolls complemented the sound of the drum and the flute. Slide12: 4 years ago, I started to study and learn Oriental dance. I was fascinated to learn about the social and cultural significance of the dance and its mesmerizing effect on the body and the mind. Today, Oriental dancers perform all over the world in various venues and stages. IN THE KITCHEN: IN THE KITCHEN Cooking and sharing the food with my family and friends gives me great joy.
