Lead Without a Rope :  Lead Without a Rope Presented by Ivy Meadors High Tech High Touch Solutions, Inc. www.hthts.com Becoming a leader others want to follow Slide2:  Lead Without a Rope   So many of the problems that horses have are the direct result of being confused by riders who are confused themselves. The horse cannot know what is expected of him unless, and until, the rider understands how the horse needs to have information presented to him so he understands what he is expected to do.   People willingly follow a leader if they have a clear understanding of what needs to be accomplished and are offered the opportunity to perform without pressure. Hear proven strategies for achieving leadership skills that will motivate and inspire people to follow using the element of “feel”. Relate with others at a different level by hearing the unspoken word, and understanding the unwritten messages being shared.   In this session you will learn to think of leadership from a different viewpoint. True leadership can be administered through feel by connecting to people at an uncommon communication level. Ivy’s goal is for your own personal advancement in the leadership role, using leadership techniques that will result in deep connections.   Those in attendance will receive a handout of resources on leadership topics. 1. Identify essential elements of an extraordinary leader 2. Emphasize proven leadership techniques 3. Show how to communicate at a deeper level 4. Define the points of risk for failure to lead effectively 5. Discuss how to lead using “feel” Confidential:  Confidential We kindly request that these slides are not reproduced in any other format and full credit is given to High Tech High Touch Solutions, Inc.™ for the design and content. We are going into battle against a tough and determined enemy. I can't promise you that I will bring you all home alive. But this I swear... when we go into battle, I will be the first to step on the field and I will be the last to step off. And I will leave no one behind... dead or alive. We will all come home together." --We Were Soldiers Slide5:  Leadership from a different perspective Slide6:  Horse Whispering Explained 'Horse whispering' is a misleading term in that, contrary to popular belief, horses don't speak any human language (that we're aware of) and so whether you shout or whisper, there's not much chance you're going to get the response you were hoping for. The response comes from the connection you have with your horse using body language and touch. Traditional methods of command and control are not useful, as there are no bridles, ropes or harnesses.  Historically, 'horse whisperers' were thought to have magical powers that calmed a frightened or wild horse.  Today we know that it is not magic, but method.  The popular movie, The Horse Whisperer, has increased people's awareness of the possibilities of horsemanship from the heart. Communication is the key.  Not communicating as we know it, but rather as the horse understands it.  Speaking the language of the horse involves looking into the eye of the horse and building a relationship based on trust. http://www.tomorrowtoday.biz/horsewhisper/#Books Emotional Resonance: Ability to sense and respond to the feelings of another Connect at an unfamiliar level ‘Feel’ energy, be fully present :  Emotional Resonance: Ability to sense and respond to the feelings of another Connect at an unfamiliar level ‘Feel’ energy, be fully present Trust your intuition & feelings:  Trust your intuition & feelings Slide9:  Don't Take Anything Personally Care less about what others think of you, care more about what others think of themselves, including their relationships with you. --Stephen R. Covey Nothing others do is because of you. Actually a projection of their own reality. Victim of needless worry – frees you to take your own direction. Very easy to be discouraged by the comments or actions of other people. Other people's words or deeds can influence our view of ourselves and directly affect our ability to succeed in our own way. Extracted from The Four Agreements: a Practical Guide to Freedom, and Daily Reflections for Highly Successful People by Stephen R. Covey. Slide10:  ‘Hear’ the unspoken word Be alert and aware of body language, facial expressions, tone of voice, the messages in their eyes. Hear the actual physical sounds around you. Feel the energy from the other person and the area around them. Slide11:  “All leaders are readers, but not all readers are leaders.” ‘Read’ the unwritten message Slide13:  Desire to excel, grow, and reach goals Personal mentor(s) for individual betterment and growth Book: The Power of Focus by Jack Canfield, Mark Victor Hansen & Les Hewitt Slide14:  The America Dream is alive inside of each of us! Slide15:  What would you do if you knew you could not fail? - unknown What is your dream? Slide16:  Leadership is taking people to a place that they would not normally go to on their own and willingly follow. -unknown What was Shackleton’s dream? Slide19:  Identify growth potential See the best in yourself and others Develop your strengths Align yourself with the ‘right’ job Get a mentor, be a mentor Recognize and Build on Strengths Contributors to Potential Failure:  Contributors to Potential Failure Slide21:  Prideful & Confident, not arrogant and cocky Give respect, gain trust Doesn’t dampen enthusiasm or hurt self-esteem Slide22:  Promotion without proper skills or training Unskilled and Unaware of it Closed-minded, & Unwilling to Change Slide23:  Fear of Failure Worse though is…. Fear of Success Slide24:  Failure is not an option. Giving up is to fail. Make mistakes, learn from them. These are explorations, simply change your direction. Ask Yourself:  Am I a good listener? Can I hear what isn’t being said? What’s it like to know me? What’s it like to work for me? What’s it like to work with me? How effectively do I communicate? Do I have goals and aspirations? Does my enthusiasm and direction in my life positively impact those around me? (i.e. dreams, goals, etc.) Would you work for you? Ask Yourself Do I really hear them; their spoken and unspoken words?
