How your projects can benefit from project work, expertise, tools and techniques being developed by NWP NWP mission/objectives/aims:  NWP mission/objectives/aims Raise the profile of workforce planning Lead a co-ordinated approach to planning Improve information systems and sources Enhance a sharing of best practice and lessons learnt React, assess and explain the impact of the new initiatives e.g. MMC, WTD 2009 Why is workforce planning vital:  Why is workforce planning vital In Healthcare approx 70% of the funding is spent on staff. Integrated planning across service, finance and staffing needs to include better workforce planning. The combined effect of a range of current issues will change how healthcare is delivered in the next 10 years Long term workforce planning starts today. Need to identify and use the potential of current initiatives such as Agenda for change, IWL and new ways of working. Long Term Planning:  Long Term Planning Improved awareness of need for long term planning Identify issues around demographic changes Resources produced: Audio CD Planning guide Board Room Briefing Resource Packs:  Resource Packs Web and paper based packs for planners Highlight workforce planning implications Provide planning guides and checklist to aid planners Pack to support MMC already available, work on packs to support Urgent Care, Long Term Conditions and Diagnostics currently in progress Primary Care Database:  Primary Care Database Provides individual PCT profiles To inform workforce planning initiatives Assess organisational performance Provide facility for benchmarking Questions:  Questions What is the combined effect of the MMC and WTD 2009 on your organisation?
