The rings: Five rings to point up the universality of the Olympic Movement and the Olympic Games. The Rings and flag proposed by Pierre de Coubertin in 1914 Slide3:  The five rings represent the five continents. They are interlaced to show the universality of Olympism and the meeting of the athletes of the whole world during the Olympic Games. Slide4:  The motto: Citius Altius Fortius :A motto is a phrase which sums up a life philosophy or a code of conduct to follow. The Olympic motto is made up of three Latin words : Which means : FASTER — HIGHER — STRONGER The Flame:  The Flame The Olympic flame is one of the best-known features of the Games. From the moment the flame is lit to the moment it goes out, a very precise ritual is laid down: The lighting In memory of the Olympic Games’ origins, the flame is lit in Olympia, Greece, some months before the opening of the Games.
