And this is actually what KNOWLEGDE ECOLOGY is all about - :  And this is actually what KNOWLEGDE ECOLOGY is all about - creating an environment where there is lack of differentiation between business and pleasure. Where WORK and FUN become one! Slide4:  Knowledge Ecologies demand leaders with a very positive self regard. Leaders that let go and are not too uptight about it. Slide5:  Organizations' Managers can get very confused: :  Organizations' Managers can get very confused: on the one hand they are expected to 'deliver'; on the other hand they see that knowledge intensive companies have higher market value and move faster ahead. Slide7:  Managers have to forget many of the old management practices and invent new ones, like creating a communication environment where communities of practice can emerge, grow and flourish. Following The wonderful book 'Flow – The Psychology of Happiness' by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi (1992) and trying to find our way ahead, here are some words of wisdom : Slide10:  'The concept of FLOW – the state in which people are so involved in an activity that nothing else seems to matter; the experience itself is so enjoyable that people will do it even at a great cost, for the sheer sake of doing it'. Slide11:  'This happens when psychic energy – or attention – is invested in realistic goals, and when skills match the opportunities for action'. Slide12:  'Only direct control of experience, the ability to derive moment-by-moment enjoyment from EVERYTHING we do, can overcome the obstacles to fulfillment'. "FLOW“ is about DO "WHAT YOU ARE" and "WHAT YOU ENJOY" !:  'FLOW' is about DO 'WHAT YOU ARE' and 'WHAT YOU ENJOY' ! Life is so short that everyone should try to work in something that really gives them pleasure. The concept of FLOW can be expanded from the individual to the organization ::  The concept of FLOW can be expanded from the individual to the organization : This is a creative way to describe an organization with a clear 'PERSONALITY', clear 'CORE VALUES', and clear 'CORE COMPETENCIES', a real LIVING organization, in FLOW. That's an organization for Knowledge Ecology. How can we help people spend more time in FLOW ?:  How can we help people spend more time in FLOW ? The world is full of opportunities and nobody should get stuck in something they hate. Slide16:  Just keep exploring within one's self what it is one loves to do, what it is one does well, look outside where it is and FLOW will follow. Slide17:  TURNING OUR BRAINS AND HEARTS INTO PRODUCTION LINES, is so demanding that the need to enjoy every moment of it is NOT too much to ask. It is also within the interest of the organization that we have FUN at work: :  It is also within the interest of the organization that we have FUN at work: The only way to achieve PROFIT (which is a must for the organization's survival), is to allow people to have FUN. Slide19:  Without FUN there is LOW PRODUCTIVITY OF KNOWLEDGE, and that's why the essence of Knowledge Ecology is WORK AS FUN. How to create a FUN environment ? :  How to create a FUN environment ?
