Slide2:  Piracicaba is situated inland, 160 km from the capital of the State of São Paulo (Brazil) and the pleasure of visiting it begins with its beauty and safe roads... Every time you go to Piracicaba, you leave stress behind and enjoy the natural green countryside with its rivers and water falls... Slide3:  Piracicaba was officially founded in 08.01.1767, by Captain Antônio Corrêa Barbosa. Here we see a view of the settler’s house on the banks of the Piracicaba River. It is built of wood on a stone foundation... Slide4:  St. Antonio‘s Cathedral, in downtown, was built in the romanic style and holds 1.000 people… Piracicaba has preserved the pleasant life of the hinterland, the gazebos in the square, little conversation circles, guitars playing country music at night, but insists on keeping up to date... Slide5:  Piracicaba’s waterfall with the traditional Restaurant – the “Restaurante Mirante” in the background... Piracicaba’s majestic river has many fish in it; from the Belvedere Park, we can watch the Piracicaba River Waterfall... Slide6:  At the “Mirante”, you will have the pleasure of eating ’’pintado”, a most delicious charcoal broiled fish, mixed with the wonderful sight and the breeze wafting up from the moving water... Slide7:  “Engenho Central”, is a historical former Sugar Plant that has 80.000 m² of open air green area and 12.000 m² of built-up area that now hosts great cultural and other events... Slide8:  The World Nations’Fair has become a traditional annual event that takes place every May at the “Engenho Central”. Here you can savor food, music and dancing from many different countries in the world... Slide9:  The Wooden Suspension Bridge has a span of 78 meter and is 105 meter long. It goes from the Avenue to “Engenho Central”...From the bridge, the biggest of its type in the Southern Hemisphere, you can view one of the most beautiful stretches of the river; its rapids and the “Engenho Central”... Slide10:  “Rua do Porto” – port street – with its picturesque restaurants and pubs on the river bank is a social gathering spot... Slide11:  Piracicaba’s delicious “pamonha” is a typically Brazilian sweet made from corn and sugar, and is sold along the river bank... Slide12:  Piracicaba of the Sugarcane plantations that drive the city’s economy... Slide13:  In July, the Festival of the Holy Spirit is held on the Piracicaba river. It is the most popular religious celebration and the most significant event on the city’s tourist calendar... Slide19:  The advanced and well equipped UNICAMP Campus in Piracicaba is an important Dentistry School Center, offering undergraduate and post-graduate courses... Slide20:  The large and modern Methodist University (UNIMEP) Campus offers 80 undergraduate, master’s, doctorate and specialization courses... UNIMEP has interchange programs with universities on 5 other continents. It has a huge library with over 321 thousand titles and 87% of its academic staff are Doctors or Masters in their fields... Slide21:  Municipal Teaching Foundation, maintains the Engineering School and Piracicaba Technical and Industrial College, has been working since October 1967 to qualify high level professionals...
