Slide1:  Canadians’ Anticipated Shopping Behaviour This Holiday Season Retail Council Of Canada November, 2005 Background & Methodology:  Background & Methodology In total, 1431 Canadians from POLLARA’s on-line panel conducted an on-line survey between November 11th and the 18th, 2005. Respondents were asked a number of questions regarding their purchasing plans for the holiday season in addition to questions concerning their age, household income, and region of residence. Data collected from panel members is weighted to geographically represent all Canadians and the results have a margin of error of ±2.5%, 19 times out of 20. Canadians living in a household with a lower income are less likely to give gifts this holiday season (85% among Canadians who live in a household earning of $25,000 or less compared to 98% among those Canadians who live in a household with an income of $75,000 or more).
