The Statue of Liberty:  The Statue of Liberty By: Rebecca Wing Where is the Statue of Liberty located?:  Where is the Statue of Liberty located? The statue of Liberty is located in New York City. In the New York Bay. More specifically in Liberty Island. That is a picture pf Ellis Island. Where is the Statue of Liberty is close to. Both are Historian Sites. Dates of the statue of liberty!:  Dates of the statue of liberty! In 1924 it was designated a national monument. In 1984 it was named a world heritage site. In 1849-1887 Emma Lazarus’ sonnet “The New Colossus” was engraved in side of the pedestal. October 28, 1886 President Glover Cleveland accepted the statue for the us. In July 1884 it was completed in France (IT is 123 years old) . 1885 it arrived in America in 350 individual pieces. What does the Statue of Liberty symbolize? :  What does the Statue of Liberty symbolize? The whole statue represents different things. All together the statue represents generosity and hope and freedom. The robe that is worn by her is dignifying Greek matron in classical times. The broken chains that are at the bottom of the statue represents the newly-won freedom of America. The fact that the left foot is ahead of her right foot symbolizes her walking away from captivity. The seven spikes on her crown represent the seven oceans and continents in the world. One of her feet is also standing upon the chains representing the acquired freedom of America. The torch that she holds represents freedom along with Liberty in the name of the statue. Designers and how the idea of it came up!:  Designers and how the idea of it came up! The idea of the Statue of Liberty came up at a dinner party. Eduard de Laboulaye host of the party was talking with his friend Fredric Auguste Bartholdi about the Revolutionary War in the United States; they both admired the freedom given in the United States; They both decided that it would be nice to give a gift of friendship to America. The French people contributed $250,000 for the cost. The statue is made of copper. The height of the statue is 93 meters high. The statue is a national trademark of the US.
