Safety at the workplace: welding: Safety at the workplace: welding PowerPoint Presentation: A presentation by Johannes Fuchs PowerPoint Presentation: What is welding Welding methods Safety instructions Safety equipment Habit at the workplace Health dangers Facts and figures List of references Contents PowerPoint Presentation: During welding there two single, mostly metallic components are used which get bonded under high heat Welding is used in a big field: in a garage, to build railways, even under water, on bridge constructions, and further more... The biggest danger in welding is caused by high voltage, high temperature, flying metal sparks and perhaps explosions on sealed tanks. Introduction PowerPoint Presentation: There are around 13 different types of welding. Most of them work with high voltage The most common types of welding are: - arc welding - gas welding Basically the safety is always the same Welding methods PowerPoint Presentation: Safety shoes Welding shield Welding suit Welding gloves Safety instructions PowerPoint Presentation: Welding gloves are made out of lather and they have to cover the wrist The safety shoes have a special flap which protects the feet from welding sparks All safety equipment has to be fireproof PowerPoint Presentation: The shield has a glass which protects the eyes from the UV-radiation If coat or suit they both protect arms and body PowerPoint Presentation: The work zone should have a vent, that takes away the smoke and the worker can breath fresh air. A curtain is important to keep people away from dangers and to have a place without flammable things. Furthermore there should be a fire drencher just in case. Habit at the workplace PowerPoint Presentation: The acid fumes that accrue out of different materials can be harmful for the lungs of the welder. Also UV radiation burns the skin and is even worse for the eyes. In the worst case you can lose your eyesight. The sparks are only dangerous if you don´t have fire protection and flameable things around yourself Health dangers PowerPoint Presentation: Fires and explosion accidents while welding: 815 from 1990 until 1999 423 since 2000 People that got injured: Years 90s since 2000 slightly injured 59,9 % 63,2% seriously injured 18,8% 5,3% Deadly injured 21,3% 31,6% Facts and Figures PowerPoint Presentation: www.wikipedia.com http://www.seilnacht.com/Lexikon/schweise.html http://www.stamos-welding.com/sicherheit http://www.nextline.de/files/27/fol6_02.pdf List of references PowerPoint Presentation: Thank you for your attention
