PowerPoint Presentation: SightPhonics Reading Program SightPhonics is called "the adult reading program that surprised even us" ... because the reading program was originally created to be used in a private school situation, by a shear stroke of fate was it tested on adult students and surpassed all other adult literacy programs used. SightPhonics is also the only adult reading program that teaches you the fundamentals of how to read in an effort to greatly improve your reading skills and reading fluency. SightPhonics includes stories, words and sentences for practice. All the reading phonics lessons in SightPhonics are available in audio recordings on CD. Just put the CD in a standard CD player, open the book and follow the directions. PowerPoint Presentation: BOOKS In Book form for home use - the SightPhonics Reading Program consists of the same 12 books and 12 CDs as the classroom version but they are printed in a four book set allowing us to offer it to students for a lesser price. In Book form for classrooms and institutions - the SightPhonics Reading Program consists of 12 books and 12 CDs for use on a typical CD player. These books are printed separately and come with permission to copy all printed materials. SightPhonics is a complete program that teaches adult level words in the first reading book. It is not fancy. It has no cute pictures but it works like magic and is as affordable as we could possibly make it . Teachers - Teachers never have enough time or hands available in the classroom. SightPhonics can be used to teach the repetitive lessons while allowing teachers the use of their skills to problem-solve and enhance the information students have learned. It's much like having an extra reading teacher at their fingertips. PowerPoint Presentation: Her Own Story As a teacher of severely handicapped teenagers for many years - Patricia Lear has often had to invent her own materials. Patricia's students had the capabilities of five-year-olds scholastically with a Backstreet Boys social mentality. No existing materials seemed to fit their needs. SightPhonics was written out of guilt. The main reading program used with her students was one which taught the things that would have no use in real life. Though it did help them keep their minds and imaginations moving, it did little to provide them with "real living" skills. So she wrote a book accompanied with an audio CD in effort to teach her students the letter names. They succeeded so quickly that she decided to teach them the letter sounds. Again the success was so fast that Patricia decided to move on to simple words. As they kept coming to her for more and more reading, she had to provide more to keep up with their demands. Riding a wave of success, she finally decided to plan and bring to fruition a complete program for all learners. The result was SightPhonics.
