DLF ERMI: Major Areas:  DLF ERMI: Major Areas Selection Order Implementation Maintenance Evaluation UT & ERMS:  UT & ERMS Learn about ERMS Use what we learn to improve internal data management Consider purchase of an ERMS, and be ready with data to populate it. Types of companies:  Types of companies Eleven companies in various stages of ERM development The types of companies: ILS (Integrated Library Systems) companies, PAMS, (publications access management services), subscription agents, and a non-profit organization. ILS integrated systems :  ILS integrated systems Dynix/Horizon SIRSI Dynix/Horizon Electronic Resource Management :  Dynix/Horizon Electronic Resource Management Ability to import data from outside e-journal management products. Single point of maintenance URI management features Complies with DLF ERMI standards SIRSI Electronic Resources Management:  SIRSI Electronic Resources Management Excel-type fixed downloads possible. Link resolver and statistical tools. Will work with outside tools but there are questions. Ability to add new fields. Links to license agreements. Wonderful for existing SIRSI customers. ILS with stand alone and integrated systems :  ILS with stand alone and integrated systems Endeavor ExLibris Innovative VTLS--Verify Endeavor/Meridian :  Endeavor/Meridian Accepts data from a number of sources. Xml format. Promise with upgrades: federated search environment, link Resolver Scanned copies of license record can be linked. Different levels of access for staff Developed with user-centered practices, fully integrated reporting features ExLibris/Verde :  ExLibris/Verde Different levels of access for staff Notification tools SFX provides fast-track implementation Consortia models Supports print Multiple platforms per interface from a vendor such as EBSCO. Innovative Interfaces/Electronic Resource Management:  Innovative Interfaces/Electronic Resource Management Available since 2004; has the advantage therefore of user testing. Innovative’s ERM system has both data export and import capabilities. Compatible with online portals/OPACs, metasearch tools, link resolvers, and A-to-Z listing services. Information can be made available to the public through the online catalog or library Web pages. Innovative:  Innovative Innovative’s ERM does have a single point of maintenance, but critical functions can also be accessed through all staff modules for full Millennium libraries. This system allows the user to easily add new or additional fields or data elements VTLS--Verify:  VTLS--Verify Data importing and exporting capabilities: currently MARC and delimited file formats are supported. Additional formats including XMLbased structures will be supported in the future. Data can be imported from other systems, although this typically requires a customized loader. Compatible with externally developed products such as serials/acquisitions modules for other ILS systems, Online portals, metasearch tools, and link resolvers. VTLS--Verify:  VTLS--Verify Data in VTLS’s VERIFY system can be maintained in several ways including batch loading, update programs, staff modules, and reporting modules. New and additional fields or data elements can be added. Manage URIs, user IDs/passwords, administrative IDs/passwords, and IP addresses. Supports both electronic and printed media. Non-Profit:  Non-Profit Gold Rush Gold Rush--Colorado Alliance of Research Libraries. :  Gold Rush--Colorado Alliance of Research Libraries. Stand-alone Web-based software package, all or nothing. OpenURL link resolver Serials public search interface including searching, browsing, article finder, and A-to-Z list capabilities. Gold Rush staff do the exporting and exporting of data. For Gold Rush to interact with an ILS serials/acquisitions module, custom mapping would be required to import or export data. PAMS-- publications access management services:  PAMS-- publications access management services Serials Solutions TDNet Serials Solutions/ERMS:  Serials Solutions/ERMS Serials Solutions ERMS will have both exporting and importing capabilities. Data can be exported using Excel, XML, and MARC file extract. Import of basic database and journal subscription information is possible using a data loader. Compatibility with ILS serials/acquisitions modules is not currently supported, but future versions may include this function Serials Solutions:  Serials Solutions Single point of maintenance for SerialsSolutions ERMs Data fields can be customized, such as menu items for the contact manager and the report manager. User IDs/passwords and administrative IDs/passwords can both be managed At this time, management of IP addresses is not currently supported, but future versions will include this feature. Serials Solutions:  Serials Solutions Usage statistics and search statistics The future version of this application will include the ability to aggregate statistics from vendor files. TDNet/TeRMS:  TDNet/TeRMS Exporting capabilities using Excel and XML. The administrator module of this system will have import capabilities from outside e-journal management solutions, databases, or ILS systems. TeRMS will be compatible with externally developed online portals, metasearch tools, and link resolvers. Most of the requirements noted by the DLF ERMI will be addressed during development. Subscription Agents:  Subscription Agents EBSCO Harrossowitz EBSCO:  EBSCO “EBSCO’s intent is not to develop yet another ERM system to compete with those being created by ILS vendors.” “EBSCO views their relationship with ERM systems as a partner rather than a competitor.” Harrassowitz/Hermis 3.0:  Harrassowitz/Hermis 3.0 Standard ERM Hermis 3.0 and enchanced (includes OttoSerials 3) available to Harrassowitz customers as part of their subscription service. Formats available for exporting and importing data include Excel, x-delimited, and XML, including ONIX for Serials. Harrassowitz:  Harrassowitz Data found within HERMIS 3.0 can also be made available to the public through the online catalog or Web pages. Future plans: user IDs/passwords, administrative IDs/password, and IP addresses. Harrassowitz:  Harrassowitz Combination of ERM functionality and subscription services. HERMIS 3.0 provides its own pre-populated database, since it works closely with subscription management. Questions for your library:  Questions for your library How will the product work with your existing ILS? What formats are supported for imports/exports of data? Do you have data in a format that’s ready to be loaded? What features are available now and which are promised? How well does the product work with link resolvers? How well does it work with specialized local data? Does the product meet consortial needs? Questions for your library:  Questions for your library Alerts when subscriptions are coming due? What views does the public get? Does the product allow your library to create new fields? Password management functions? Pick and choose what functions you want? Or all or nothing? How much data can be automatically loaded, how much will need to be re-keyed or kept in an intermediary format? LUNCH:  LUNCH TLA Electronic Resources Management Roundtable is sponsoring a Table Talk Continue this discussion and/or bring up other topics Room 1-B Noon – 1 PM Powerpoint Slides:  Powerpoint Slides http://www.lib.utk.edu/~elecserv/tshare2005.htm By September 27, 2005 Will send out URL on TLA Listserv
